Keeping people in work

Guidance and support to help staff enter or remain at work when they are ill, have a disability or suffer from long-term health conditions

Whether paid or voluntary, being in good or fair work is associated with improving mental and physical health.

Scotland has an ageing working population, and increasingly, people who work are experiencing ill health. If people get the correct support, many can remain at work.

As an employer, it makes sense to support and help manage staff health.

If a staff member leaves work because of a health condition, they are much less likely to return to work than those without one.

Supporting staff to enter and remain in work helps build a diverse and sustainable workforce.
